Arrangements Clothes: This is the outfit I've chosen for my photo shoot. I chose this because it gives a very teen causal look. The plaid and the blue jeans are items any and every teenager finds themselves wearing and hence helps to get the message across that the indie artist herself is one of us and not someone superior, so if she can take a stand so can others her age. However I also wanted to show off her rebellious streak  and to do so she'll be wearing a mesh shirt underneath her crop top, also used as a symbol for her transparency with her fan base and the world in general. On her crop top is an image of jazzy mermaids, something to signify her creativity. Make Up: The make up products being used are: Johnson and Johanson's Baby Cream mixed with Wet and Wild Foundation Mac Pressed Powder Wet and Wild Colour Concealers Elf Blush and NARS Essence Liquid Eyeliner (Black) Maybelline Mascara Too Faced Chocolate Bronzer Meet Matte Nude Palet
Software To edit the cover picture for my final task, and creating the magazine cover itself, I'll be using Adobe Photoshop. This the software I used and practiced for my preliminary tasks and am therefore comfortable with the software, making it an apt choice. My acquaintance with the tools available and their location in the software only further aids my decision. I can foresee myself using certain tools like gray scale and the poly lasso tool which is going to help me refine the look of my magazine, bringing it to the standard of my target market. I look forward to my creative endeavors.
Equipment For my photo shoot I'm using a Canon 100D camera. I have three lens to allow different focal points: 1:1.8 STM EF Lens 50mm, 18-55mm EFS, 75-300. Other than that I have essentials with me like a spare Canon battery, a charger and various memory cards of which I'm most likely to use The Kingston one.  As a rim light I'll be using the lights of the auditorium itself for my Cover picture. I'll also be using these for any secondary images I might take. Since I will be using lowkey lighting this should be enough.
Schedule In order to have a well organised photo shoot, a schedule is very important. A schedule ensures that tasks can be done on time if adhered to. This is exactly why I've designed a schedule for my final photo shoot, taking in consideration the needs of all the people involved in the photo shoot whether that be the model or myself (the photographer).
Industry Publishing House: Dawn emerged as a front runner thanks largely to it's independent and progressive posturing. A seminal focus on subjects of political, philosophical and cultural import - including art and literature - earned it a niche as a trend-setter. I've chosen Dawn as it already caters to my target market and has a well established English-speaking (or in this case reading) viewership, making it easier to market my media product and attract a suitable audience. Furthermore, Dawn encourages individuality and innovation and explores these topics in many ways which means that their established customers are more likely to approach the magazine with an open mind. Distribution: The magazine will be made available in print in urban areas (Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi) at central stores and coffee shops, approximately 300 copies per city- since indie music is a niche rather than something enjoyed by the masses. 'Rhapsody' will also be digit
Mise-en-Scene Mise-en-scene is the arrangement and composition of different elements within a frame of a shot. These elements can be both technical and symbolic such as camera work, props, costumes etc. In the context of our magazine cover, it basically signifies how the cover picture and everything falling in the frame of the camera, looks. To get and project a better understanding of what I want in my cover, I've prepared this presentation: click to view full presentation
Experimenting with Lighting Today's Media class was refreshingly different. Instead of spinning on our chairs, tapping away on our laptops or listening to a lecture, we took a trip to the auditorium to practice our hand at lighting to take the perfect picture for our magazine cover. We took turns holding and adjusting the angle of the reflector and the key light (an industrial LED lamp) or "Hollywooding" it, according to the video we watched before we ventured to the auditorium. We all took turns taking pictures and alternating between being the models for our peer's camera. Amongst shared fistfuls of 'Cocomo' and one miniature water bottle, we managed to click quite a few pictures, varing in shots and angles. We also played with coloured lighting, wrapping coloured cellophane paper over the LED lamp to create these shades and even a mix of hues. My Media Sir taught me how to take pictures in low key lighting since I will be using that in my final picture.
Location Recce Sheet click to view the full document  I chose the auditorium of LGS 1A1 since it's stage already has a black backdrop which I can avail. Practically all the lights in the auditorium are adjustable, making my task of taking a picture in low key lighting easier. It also has an array of spotlights and stage lights which I can use while taking my secondary images, casting the lime light on the indie artist to showcase her and how she is the leader of the socio-political awakening. To create a variety in the secondary images, I might avail the courtyard and a classroom, the latter a symbol for fighting the ignorance the world has fallen into.
Model Since I'm doing a feature on an artist, I decided to use the said artist on the cover of my magazine to attract the fan base and rouse the curiosity of others. I've decided to use my good friend and preliminary magazine cover task model, Emil Husnain as the model for my final task yet again. The reason for this decision are many. Other than being co operative with my ideas, Emil and I have great working chemistry, making the shoot go smoothly and the end result something we can both admire. She's exceptionally talented at makeup and I believe can produce the look I want for my magazine cover, minimizing  any extra expenses. Her style varies. While one day she'll be rocking double denim, another she'll be doned in all pastels, essentially looking good in everything (probably even in a paper bag). Her ability to pull off any type of style and her naturally photogenic appearance also play a role in my decision.
Mock-ups and Sketches  Cover Page  For my magazine cover, I've decided to have centrally positioned mid long shot of my model, a female indie artist with her hands slightly and casually behind her back to demonstrate the humbleness she still possesses despite making waves. It will be a picture taken in low key lighting with parts of her body submerged in the darkness, blending in with the black background, demonstrating society surfacing from ignorance. The model will act as a prism, being hit by white light and diverging it into a rainbow, symbolic for opening the world up to see and realizing their own colours rather than following blindly. It showcases her as a leader. I've decided to be conventional when it comes to the cover lines, having three including the main cover line and following a L formation when it comes to their structure. I decided to put the main cover line at the bottom right, directly opposite the rest of the cover lines to make it stand out.
